THE 2009 UABA PUNTA CANA CONVENTION

Moon Palace PoolMonths of planning turned the UABA 32nd annual convention at the Moon Palace Resort & Spa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic into a spectacular event. Over 40 members and guests registered for fun in the sun with of course our seminars, receptions, excursions, and overall Ukrainian camaraderie.

Our agenda kicked off on Tuesday, October 27 with an informal cocktail reception. On Wednesday we enjoyed the too many to mention amenities offered by the Moon Palace, Golf and Spa Resort with an early bird welcoming cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres that evening.

On Thursday we boarded the Caribbean Festival for a fun excursion that fullfilled its promise of an incredible snorkeling experience among nurse sharks and other marine species on a beautiful coral reef. That evening the UABA sponsored its official welcoming with our Caribbean Dinner Under the Stars featuring a cocktail reception and a delicious Caribbean dinner at the Poinciana Pool.

Friday was a very busy day. The morning started with seminars presented by Petro Kostiv, Markian Silecky, John Kurey and Myroslaw Smordsky followed by the election of new officers. That afternoon may of our participants flew through the air on the Zip Line Canopy Tour. This excursion is the well renowned tree canopy experience where platforms are constructed in the high tree canopy along with steel cables stretched throughout the mountain range for flying throughout the lush green tropics. That evening we had another cocktail gathering with hors d’oeuvres and finished with the UABA winner take all Texas Hold-Em tournament.

On Saturday, our seminars continued with Mykola Pavlov, Myroslaw Smorodsky, Danylo Kurdelchuk and Volodymyr Vassylenko. That afternoon we enjoyed the local cultural flavor of the Higuey Culteral Excursion and the nearby La Otra Branda Village. We ended up at the top of Santa Maria Mountain for a breathtaking panoramic view of the area. Our evening festivities  finished with a cocktail reception and our gala banquet dinner where the changing of the guard took place with our newly elected administration addressing the membership.

The BeachOn Sunday, a full day tour of Santo Domingo was offered. Santo Domingo is the oldest city in the Americas and features 400 year old Spanish fortresses, Columbus’ son’s house, and numerous historical monuments.

Our 32nd annual convention fullfilled its promises of life time memories of a wonderful UABA experience. As always, were able to develop new friendships and renew old acquaintances.
